Makerstoun House

Makerstoun House is set in beautiful wooded parklands just outside Kelso in the Scottish Borders. Outstanding views over the River Tweed make this a perfect country wedding venue with a lovely sense of space and seclusion.

Wedding ceremonies can be held in a small marquee on the front lawn, with the Georgian façade, landscaped grounds and river offering a spectacular backdrop for photographs. For wedding receptions, the well-loved Cross Keys in Kelso is only two miles away in the town’s historic square.

With its generous grounds and front and back drives accessible to buses, Makerstoun House can also accommodate marquee weddings of up to 300 guests. The bride can use a private guestroom on the day, and it’s possible to arrange access to the drawing room for photographs of close family.

Lord Biddulph is also happy to offer the vaulted dining room of the original 16th century towerhouse for pre-wedding dinner parties of 18 guests by arrangement.

If you would prefer a church ceremony, the village church at Makerstoun provides a light, peaceful setting for 120+ guests.
