Kate and Paul’s venue was an exciting blank canvas to work with. To transform the large, empty barn at Comrie Croft into a magical winter wonderland, we divided the vast space into into four sections. By clearly marking out areas for the ceremony, dining, catering and a chill out area we created a cosy and warm atmosphere. The first part we tackled was the entrance area which had no doors. We used heavy hessian curtains edged in rich red satin which could be closed to keep out the wind and rain and added a homely touch. Also in this area, was a central table laden with log slices, cylinder vases and floating candles.
Row upon row of twinkly fairy lighting over head and bespoke drapes added a combination of warmth and glamour and also helped to divide the space. We added rich reds and oranges to the floral arch where the ceremony took place. The aisle was marked out with silver storm lanterns and more flowers and foliage which were all in a rich palette of late autumn/winter colours. Our light up birch trees and up lighters used all around the barn helped create ambiance to the edge of the room.
The chill out area featured straw bales covered with fabric which tied in with the green and gold drapes and contemporary cream coffee tables added the finishing touches to this area.
